March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, is always great craic.
It gives people one day a year to do things they never, ever would otherwise.
Things like drinking Guinness, wearing t-shirts asking strangers to kiss them, and listening to U2.
Ever the public servant, McDonald’s also like to offer the people a suitably seasonal limited edition treat in the form of the Shamrock Shake.
The mint-flavored green shake was first introduced in 1970 and has developed something of a cult following since.
This year, in news that fans will be putting down to the fabled luck of the Irish, it will be joined by a range of new flavors too.
Chocolate lovers rejoice now, as the new additions read Chocolate Shamrock Shake, Shamrock Chocolate Chip Frappe, Shamrock Mocha and Shamrock Hot Chocolate.
That’s a whole lot of chocolate options.
As Jeanette DeBartolo, a McDonald’s spokeswoman, wrote in an email Friday, “McDonald’s is on a journey to be better and part of that journey is a commitment to evolving our food and beverage offerings.”
McDonald’s Shamrock menu is only available in the weeks leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, and you don’t have long to wait.
This year you can get your hands on a Shamrock Shake earlier than before – the menu is launched on Tuesday, February 7th.
